State Timelines

Welcome to the History of the 50 States!

This semester is all about the 50 States!  Each student will have to choose two states and be required to provide a historical timeline of each state starting from when it became a state to the present.  You will need to highlight important events, dates and people from the states as well as be able to apply the use of at least one type of technology in your representation of the timelines.  After you do this you will be required to upload your states’ timeline to the class website for all to view.  There will be a weekly journal that you will turn in every Wednesday.  After the first timeline is due you will have the chance to grade your own project as well as your classmates' projects.  This lesson will cover the entire semester.  Your first state timeline will be due for a midterm grade and the second state timeline will be due for a final grade.

Reminder!
Updated 2/01/15

Don't forget to turn in your journals on Wednesday 2/4.  This should be your second journal entry so make sure that you have completed both entries.  Make sure to inform me about your progress on researching your state and let me know what you are having trouble with.  Also, please tell me what technology you are thinking about using for your first timeline.

Hawaii has its own time zone. It’s called Hawaiian Standard Time. There is no daylight savings time in Hawaii, which means that in summer, Hawaii is five hours behind the U.S. Mid West, while in winter, Hawaii is four hours behind the U.S. Mid West.

Spencer Williamson is our student of the week!  Listen to what his nominator, Bryce Harvey, had to say, "He is always willing to help anyone with their homework.  He is able to help us understand what Ms. Debo is talking about and he never turns us away."

If you have someone that you wish to nominate for "Student of the Week" pick up a nomination form from the bulletin board and submit in the box before Friday!
